The caller told officers he feared someone was in danger. When police arrived, they heard raised voices but no sounds of violence. The neighbor soon opened the door and explained he had been having an intense debate with ChatGPT.
The Oslo Police District confirmed the event on https://www.politiet.no and said no further action was needed. Officers noted that similar calls now occur several times a month. Moreover, the resident said he often speaks with strong emotion when he uses AI tools. He added that he had been discussing a personal story and lost track of his volume.
Local officials stated that such incidents reflect changing communication habits in Norway. In addition, neighbors were informed that there was no threat to public safety. The building management in St. Hanshaugen said it will update its guidelines to remind residents about noise levels.
