Wizz Air ofrecerá billetes para viajar en las bodegas de equipaje.

Budapest, Hungary — Wizz Air has announced a new ultra-low-cost travel option that lets passengers book tickets to travel inside the baggage hold. The company says this innovation will “redefine affordable flying in Europe.” The new program, called Wizz Basic Below, is expected to launch next spring.

According to the airline’s spokesperson, Balázs Szabó, the offer targets travelers who “value savings over comfort.” Each ticket will include a small blanket, safety briefing, and optional earplugs for an extra €2.99. Wizz Air claims that the baggage hold will be temperature-controlled and equipped with soft flooring for safety.

The company believes this step will make air travel accessible to millions who cannot afford standard seats. Critics on social media compared the idea to “flying inside a suitcase,” but the airline insists it meets all European Union Aviation Safety Agency regulations.

Flights under the new plan will start on routes between Budapest, London Luton, y Warsaw Chopin Airport. Travelers can already sign up for early notifications through the official website wizzair.com. Despite the controversy, bookings for test flights filled up within hours.

Wizz Air says this is only the beginning of “a new era in low-cost travel.”
